How BMF Came to Be
In early April 2024, after almost 10 years with my previous employer, I was caught up in a layoff. It was surprising, it was tough, and I went through every emotion you'd expect. Within a day or two, I made a post on LinkedIn sharing what had happened. What came back gave me goosebumps.
My network showed up in a way I will never forget. The messages poured in, thoughtful and genuine, from people close and far. Close colleagues and dear friends reached out immediately. But so did LinkedIn connections I had not spoken to in years, people I had barely crossed paths with. That moment showed me just how wide and deep the relationships I had built truly were. It reaffirmed something I had always believed but never seen so clearly: the relationships you build in this business are everything. Not the transactions. Not the placements. The relationships.
Through that same network, my first opportunity came. And when I made a second LinkedIn post announcing the launch of BMF Searchforce, the response was immediate.
Within minutes, my phone was lighting up. Former colleagues, former managers, former candidates who had since moved into hiring roles, former clients. All reaching out with support, encouragement, and opportunity.
BMF Searchforce (now BMF Talent Collective) was officially born in June 2024 from that outpouring. What started as opportunistic quickly became purposeful. And two months after my layoff, my wife and I found out we were expecting our first child. Suddenly, building something meaningful wasn't just a career goal. It was personal.
This journey has been everything I hoped it would be and more. Built on relationships. Driven by purpose. And focused, every single day, on building meaningful futures: for the candidates I place, the companies I partner with, and the family I'm building at home.
